I worked for theee yeara at Hootsuite being super close to the social media industry and embracing content creation on LinkedIn. As soon as I started my own Substack, I moved to email marketing at ActiveCampaign - again super close in this industry. And therefore I can even prove that you‘re so right, Wes!
I’ve always had the thought in the back of my head ‘what if my profile gets taken down’ - and it’s led me to spreading myself around and not relying too much on the various social media platforms 🙂
Your point about monetisation really spoke to me. I try to give as much free as possible. Substack, reels, YouTube’s, my podcasts - if people want to work with me, they can get involved with my courses but I always try to offer as much as I can for free. Be of service first.
Thanks for your article Wes, and for giving us all the extra push to get this show on the road! I started writing on substack incognito earlier this year - not telling anyone I know - ha, ha - as a challenge to myself more than anything else. And I'm loving it. So here I go, ready to amp up the volume in 2025!
I just started my Substack last week and am aiming to support and help caregivers renew and refresh themselves during their "Call of Duty". Love your content!
I started my blog on December 31 last year, and I'm hoping to release a post a week for 2025. I hope people will like my content, and thanks for your article, Wes!

Spot on, Wes. I restructured my business this year for simplicity and Substack is a big part of that. It's a great ecosystem and I like your plan!
