Let me be clear about where my mind is at right now. I'm writing this as my resistance. When we come out the other side of hateful fascism, someone is going to ask "What did you do?". I'm going to say " I wrote my heart out about resisting this deformation of what we can be.". If it connects with people, that's GREAT! But I have to do it no matter what...
Wes, I am embracing your advice. But... is there an exptension / app / hack / method to schedule Substack Notes in advance? Even a little bit of such functionality would be so helpful.
I think what I took away from this was a reinforcement of an idea I learned along time ago, similar to the Steal like an artist, and that is never start from zero, when creating anything.
Look at what Notes are currently performing well, use their topic, contents, structure, and style to inform you, to inspire you, to influence you. Because the person who posted it, they have already validated interest in that type of post, and you have the secondary data - in likes, comments engagement - as evidence for validation. So essentially you have outsourced the risk and associated sunk cost of early testing and primary validation, and will benefit from reduced risk and reduced resource waste from being a fast follower.
TLDR: let other people test tens of thousands of ideas, and then find the successful ideas, and use them as inspiration for your own.
Thanks for sharing this! My newsletter is super tiny and new (under 10 subscribers). At this stage, does it make sense to post daily Notes? Or focus on liking/commenting?
Just took a look at your AI newsletter and subscribed. Though your posts looked really interesting, and looking forward to diving in.
I’m at an even earlier stage than you, in the newsletter world. I’m literally still figuring out my niche. It’s gonna be somewhere around being neurodivergent as I’m AuDHD.
As for writing notes now, from my experience as a content marketer, I’d say it’s never, ever too early to promote yourself. Ever. Establish a simple one note a day cadence, and then start to look for ways to systemise, templates, and automate that process in order to scale to 1, then 2 then 3 notes a day without burnout and and without loosing the human personal touch.
I’ve found a really simple way to start is to read newsletters on here then restack a quote from that newsletter. Get you in the habit of posting.
Anyway, sorry fro the long reply. Autism and ADHD are an interesting mix that always seem to have me tally more than I should. 😊
Thanks for that Karen. Honestly, I haven’t really got started on it properly yet. I’ve written two posts, and they, frankly are written in a very selfish style. Basicly how I like to write my morning thoughts in my journal. I think it’s a little too flowery, a little too self centric.
They are just to warm up really.
But I really do appreciate you looking. Though that was not the intent of me following you. I was genuinely curious. I think a person on Substack should be able to follow due to genuine interest without expecting anything in return.
Anyway, thanks again, and have a wonderful day. 😊👍🏻

Viral notes provide more value than your competitors

Thanks in advance.
I appreciate this. Thank you
This is good info. I'm new trying to get 10 subscribers.
I thought there was a trick to getting notes in front of the right audience. No #. Just be real
Thanks for sharing.
A fantastic read once again, mate.
