Wes, I invite you to subscribe to my Substack. I am patient and look forward to where I’ll be on this journey in the long run. Lots still to learn. But I do have some plans up my sleeve.
Nice post. Especially the mention of notes and organic engagement with other writers. I think too many treat SS as an audience vs. community. I'm genuinely interested in certain writers and engage regularly. Congratulations on attracting this many subs on your journey and being able to make this into a steady income stream.
Well, I don't think I solve problems for my readers...but maybe I do...you are right about something you said, "Some of my biggest subscriber spikes came from other writers recommending my newsletter. Not because I asked them to, but because we'd built a real relationship over time. They knew my work. They trusted it enough to share it with their audience."
I've found the same to be true.
Once I stopped listening to growth guru advice, and went looking for my fellow Fantasy Geeks with this blurb...connections took on a whole new layer! It was like suddenly we KNEW how to find each other!
"Embark on a journey into a realm where imagination knows no bounds, and the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. Join us in the mystical world of "An Enchanted Life," a fantasy-themed newsletter that promises to ignite your sense of wonder and whisk you away to the realms of magic and adventure."
This was helpful! Makes a lot of sense.

Also wanted to say I really enjoy your advice. Much of it has been exceedingly helpful. Thank you!
