Hey Substacker,
Everyone that’s writing on Substack will tell you this:
Keep to a consistent writing schedule. Saturday mornings? Sundays at the coffee shop? Mondays while the kids are at school?
Whatever it is, stay consistent.
But today, I want to go a little “nontraditional” and give you my second-best piece of advice:
Write 2-3 amazing, killer “hero” posts that make you look like a complete rockstar.
What’s a hero post? It’s a detailed post on your Substack that shows you know your stuff. Now, not every single post you write will be a long, detailed hero post. That would take a long time. But, that’s why you’ll take the time to write at least 1 so you can knock the socks off your readers.
So why is this important?
It helps you build authority in the crowded online space
It helps you get “social proof” with lots of likes and comments
It ultimately helps you earn an income (which I’ll explain more on that later)
And that, my friend, will make all the difference in writing for fun and writing for a living.
Okay. That’s my second biggest tip for Substack. Hope it helps with growing and monetizing your newsletter.
-Wes
P.S. Really want to take this advice and run with it? I teach all about how to write your hero posts and how to turn them into income-generators inside my Six-Figure Substack Growth Masterclass.
This is where I share the exact strategy I’ve used to grow from Zero to 4,100+ subscribers and $5K+ per month income in less than 6 months.
If growing on Substack is on your 2025 goals list, I’d love for you to click the link below and join 200+ other writers inside:
I’ll break down Substack niche selection, daily growth strategy, and how to monetize your newsletter beyond the paywall. Soon I’ll be taking down the class sign-up page to update it with new info. When it’s reopened in the spring, the price will go up.
(You’ll always get the updates as long as you’re a member of the class btw).
Let me know any questions by commenting below or hitting “reply” and I’ll answer everything I can. See you inside!
It's a great idea to build authority & trust on substack.
Will work on it. Thanks man!
Thank you for the reminder, Wes.
I purchased your course recently and am now ready to apply its teachings to launch my second Substack - ‘Crazy English’.
I hope that, via Substack, I can add more ‘heroes’ to the many (since 2006) who have mastered English using my simple and proven “You Can Do It! “ method.
